While most of the garments I’ve worked on had some alteration work done to them, there have been a couple of projects that have cut and sew techniques as the focal point.
This design was done as a practise project in halftones to achieve photorealism shading and multiple colour layers. After printing the piece I was happy with it and embarked on a mission to create a custom t-shirt from scratch and utilise fabric patchwork as an additional colour layer.
While I know basic stitching, I got one of my friends whom studies fashion to help create the patterns and create the base t-shirt out of french terry fabric for a heavy weight feel.
Which me, will you see?
After this project which felt like I was adding pieces to a puzzle, I wanted to do a project which involved removing pieces.
I decided to get a pair of clean non-distressed jeans, and distress them myself to create a hole for my print to jump out through.
